Obituary for Samuel Saldana Gonzalez

Samuel Saldana Gonzalez, 82, of Yucaipa, California passed away on 28, September 2020 in Fontana, California. He was born on 1, January 1938 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Bernardo Gonzalez and Maria de Jesus Saldana.

Samuel met and married his wife, Pauline Perez Gonzalez, and together they had two children, Debra “Debbie” Lupe Saldana and Samuel “Sammy” Gonzalez. They shared many wonderful years of marriage until Pauline’s passing in 2006.

Samuel worked for and retired from Kaiser Steel. Samuel will always be remembered for his love of life and of his family. Those who knew him know just how much he enjoyed engaging in long conversations with just about anyone who was fortunate enough to cross his path. He enjoyed sharing his views on life and of the world and loved gifting everyone with a personalized letter of friendship. His hobbies included playing dominoes, tending to his roses, spending his mornings listening to his favorite songs, going out for an ice cream cone with his grandchildren, watching baseball games, and having his weekly breakfast at Denny’s with his son-in-law, Raul. Samuel was always willing to lend a helping hand with any tasks at hand and he took great pride in being able to say that he was the one that taught his grandchildren how to drive.

Samuel had four siblings, Maria, Margarita, Genaro, and Roberto, all of whom he was predeceased by. He was also predeceased by his wife, Pauline, and their daughter, Debbie. Samuel is survived by his son, Sammy, his eight grandchildren, Kady, Jesse, Jason, Eric, Ayleen, Jess, Esther, Kimberly, his great-granddaughter, Rayleigh Jean, his son-in-law, Raul, and his daughter-in-law, Connie. Whether you knew him as “Daddy”, “Apa”, “Grandpa”, “Compadre”, “Happy Viejillo Grandpa Sam”, “Gummy Bear”, or “Don Sammy”, Samuel will be greatly missed, but he leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories for us to remember him by.
