It is with great sorrow yet great hope that I just found out it has now been just over a year since Zac finished his race and went on to be with the Lord he loved so much. March 17, 1994-March 19, 2019 on this earth. March 19, 2019-eternity with the Lord of Life in greater fullness. He passed away from physical heart failure 😭, yet now his true heart is freer and more whole than ever before.

I am truly thankful to the Lord for the years he gave us together. From the first subway ride together in 2014, I was super encouraged by Zac's passion, devotion, and love for the Lord. You couldn't talk to Zac long before you'd be in a conversation about our God and King. The Lord saved him out of some crazy darkness and that darkness continued to fight for him throughout his born-again life. I was really challenged and grew a lot as we fought many of those battles together. I appreciated his humility and willingness to quickly share his struggles and seek guidance and prayer. There were many conversations with him where I walked away amazed at how God had shown up and given us words to say that we couldn't have planned out ahead of time. It was always amazing to hear him talk through things, as his language was so immersed with Scripture. He really challenged me to not settle for the status quo or impressing others, but to dive deeper and surrender all.

Many daily attacks and baggage from his past tried to take his focus from those and lead him to trust in himself, but when he threw himself upon the Lord and let the message of salvation pierce his soul, he had amazing times of strength, joy, and peace. Satan knocked him down at times, sometimes for longer seasons, but the Good Shepherd will not let any of His beloved sheep be snatched from His hand and so He continued to restore and refresh Zac with Himself. In my last conversation with him, 3 weeks before his death, he said that the Lord had once again restored him. He fought a tougher fight than many of us, yet he has now finished that battle and taken hold of the Prize he so badly yearned for. He so badly wanted to worship the Lord in complete purity and holiness, and now, with all the effects of his old man done away with in fullness, he is able to finally do that, not having missed out on earth by taking any shortcuts but rather having trusted the Lord to tell him when the race was finished!

We did life together, fought the good fight together, shared His Gospel together, ate together, fasted together, shared our burdens and joys together, prayed together, camped together, almost died together (soaring down a mountain in a car with no breaks 😂), walked at graduation together, sang together (with his awesomely joyful off-beat clap 😉), cooked together, went coast to coast together, celebrated together, studied together, grew together, and went hard together. And next, we will spend eternity together, enjoying the perfect Lord who has held onto us as we have stumbled after after Him, having had a foretaste, yet then tasting the fullness! I love you Zac. I will miss fighting alongside you and fellowshipping with you here, but I look forward to seeing you again in God's perfect timing!

For those of you reading this, Zac's biggest desire would be that his death would lead you close to Christ. For those who have strayed away and gotten caught up in the cares of the world, he would now beg you to return to Christ as the prodigal son, knowing God will welcome you back and cleanse you of all your mess. For those who haven't yet surrendered your life to the Lord, his desire for you was that you would seek the Lord and receive Him as Lord, gaining the eternal life that Zac received and now enjoys. Don't let his death push you away from God, but rather let it lead you to find full rest, comfort, and refuge in the One Zac now clings to better than ever before!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies" John 11:25
"“Brethren, what shall we do?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”" Acts 2:37-39
