Dora Bosley

July 27, 1920 — July 26, 2016

Dora “Dodie” Mae Bosley 1920-2016
Dodie Bosley joined her beloved husband on July 26, one day short of her 96 th birthday. Born in Kent, Oregon her early years were spent in southern Idaho and Brigham City, Utah. After graduating from high school she lived an adventurous life moving all over the country. Finally settling in Berkeley, California, she witnessed the great migration from the dust bowl, and the turmoil of the WWII years. At the end of the war she moved back to Brigham City and found the love of her life, James Bosley a returning vet. The two of them began to make a successful life together in Utah. There they had two daughters. But tragedy shook their life sending them down a different path. Jim went back to school to become a doctor of Chiropractic. Eventually, they made their way to sunny California the land of promise where they prospered, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and enlarged their family with 3 boys. Dora lived many years in Covina and La Verne where she was active in her church holding a number of positions of leadership. She was also politically involved and was a member of the Republican Woman’s Club. One of her proudest memories was campaigning for Ronald Reagan. Later the couple moved to Rancho Cucamonga.
Jim and Dora were married for 47 yrs. She was his invaluable helpmate and always together they took on the world. They lovingly presided over a large extended family. They shared a love of dancing and enjoyed adventurous travel. Sadly as they anticipated many more years together, Jim died in 1995. After his death Dodie continued to have a full life. She found solace in the community of her church and her many friends. She joined various volunteer services, and especially enjoyed helping adults learn to read through the Literacy Program. She also found time to walk 2 miles every day. Dodie was a devoted grandmother often regaling her grandchildren with the amazing true stories from her life. She was a beautiful, elegant, strong, principled woman. A loving wife, mother and grandmother; and great grandmother, she will be missed.
She is survived by her children Peggy Bosley (Jeff Biben), JoAnn Veirs (Ron), James Bosley, Richard Bosley and Michael Bosley (Solmari); sisters Louise Mateson and Noreen Ruddell, brothers Harry and Ralph Ruddell; grandchildren Emily Biben, Michael, Bryan, Marc, Richard, Paul and David Veirs, Amy Veirs Garcia, Lynn Trentam, Lacy Bosley, Cameron Bosley, Damien Bosley, Sean Bosley, Dana Savoie, Alicen and Abigail Bosley; and 18 greatgrandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was then laid to rest with Her Veteran Husband Jim at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. Please visit her memorial page and share a message with the family at www.ingoldfuneralchapel.com
