Eugene George Schroeder passed on Thursday, November 11th at the City of Hope in Duarte, CA.
He was born September 5th 1946 in Tacoma, WA to George and Elizabeth Schroeder. He was raised in the farmlands of North Dakota. After he graduated high school, he joined the Navy and served as a Radio Operator. During that time, he met his wife, Dixie and they were married for 47 years before her passing in 2014.
Their marriage was full of love and Gene was a devoted husband. He and Dixie had three children: Stacie (Jim) Puckett of Fontana, CA, Eric (Maryellen) Schroeder of Running Springs, CA and Keri (Darren) Lorenz of Ladera Ranch, CA. His family was extremely important to him and he could always be counted on for advice, a loving hug and an amazing listening ear. His parables and lessons will be immensely missed by his grandchildren: Meghan (Jonathan) Langdon of Fontana, CA, Tyler (Kory) Puckett of Greensboro, NC, Jessica and Luke Schroeder of Running Springs, CA and Addyson and Harper Lorenz of Ladera Ranch, CA. He was blessed to meet his great grandchildren: Hailey, Wyatt and Tucker.
He never forgot his roots and he loved traveling home to North Dakota to visit family and friends. He had an extremely tight bond with his brother, Dennis (Kim) Schroeder of Thompson, ND and his sisters Eileen Schroeder of Dickenson, ND and Donna Boyer of Imlay City, MI. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews.
After the death of his wife, he spent 6 amazing years with his loving companion, Carol Thompson. Together, they enjoyed traveling and gambling.
Gene was a dedicated employee and retired after 20 years of service as a Legal Assistant for the State of California, Workers Compensation division.
While Gene never dreamt of being a wealthy man, he leaves behind a rich legacy of love and the hearts of his family will be left with a heavy void.
There will be a viewing followed by a scripture service on Monday, November 29th at Ingold’s Chapel in Fontana, CA. Doors will open at 11 am. Gene will be laid to rest with his brothers and sisters in arms on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://tacanow.org/ways-to-help/donate/
