March 23, 1930 — January 10, 2024

Hawaiian Gardens

Francisco Salvador Rodriguez Rodriguez, 93 years old, of Hawaiian Gardens, passed away on January 10, 2024 at home, with his niece Reyna by his side.  He was born to Juana Rodriguez Navarro and Jesus Rodriguez Martinez on March 23, 1930 in Angamacutiro, Michoacan, Mexico.

Francisco got his start as a barber alongside his father Don Jesús and his brother Salvador in a hair salon that they set up in their own house in Angamacutiro. When he wasn't cutting hair, he was playing his guitar. He did not have any formal classes, simply his passion for music, his desire to learn and his lyrical ear were his three teachers. His favorite melodies to sing were romantic ballads by the trios Los Panchos, Los Tres Ases, Los Caballeros, and Los Dandys. Those who heard him sing know that “Mi Bella Lola” was part of his repertoire as it would become his anthem.

A few years later, like many young people from the town and from his own family, he went to try his luck in the capitol of Mexico city. As time went by, his life took a course to the United States where he spent some time working in the Los Alamitos printing press, where many of his fellow townspeople worked. Once again his life would take another turn, supporting his sister Ma.Guadalupe to raise her two daughters Roberta and Reyna. His love for music and his Catholic faith guided him to join a choir that was formed by Father Antolini (RIP) of the parish of St Peter Chanel. There was not a year that went by that he didn’t play the mananitas to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

He was a quiet man, a friend to many, and an amazing Father figure. This is how Francisco will be remembered, for what he gave to those he loved and those whose lives crossed his.

“Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received only what you have given"

- Saint Francis of Asisi-

Francisco is survived by his nieces Reyna Jessica Rodriguez and Roberta Maria (Donald) Salladay and; sisters Maria Guadalupe and Maria Soledad Rodriguez; great niece Jasmin Salladay and great nephew Donny Salladay.  He is also survived by his sister Josefina Ramirez and brother Fr. Rigoberto Juvenal Rodriguez-Soto along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation hours will be 4pm to 8pm, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Ingold Funeral & Cremation in Fontana.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am, Friday, January 26, 2024 at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Hawaiian Gardens.

Burial will take place in Angamacutiro, Michoacan, Mexico.

                                                                     Francisco Salvador Rodriguez Rodriguez
